Car Insurance HUMMER (Car Insurance). My 1999 Honda Civic EX won't start. what could be the problem?

My 1999 Honda Civic EX won't start. what could be the problem? My 1999 Honda Civic EX won't start. what could be the problem? My car has 103,000 miles. Always starts. This evening it started as usual. I was pulling out of parking when it suddenly died! I tried to start again but it won't. It cranks nicely but just won't start. I checked oil, battery and gas. Everything seems to be o.k. What could be the problem? I will appreciate any advice. Thanks There is a CHECK ENGINE sign that comes on when you try to start but quickly goes off. What does that mean?

The timing belt should have been changed in 2006 based on age, so it is overdue if it has not been changed yet, but that really isn't my top suspect. The most likely reason for that era Honda to fail out of the blue while running - assuming the timing belt has not failed - is the igniter. 12 years old is kind of early for igniter failure, but not too early. Check out the timing belt first because it is easier to check, then look into the spark. The first source has a lot of good stuff on that. if the check engine light wasn't on before. check fuel filter is located under the hood on the fire wall to the right of the battery they are cheap get at most parts store $20.00-$35.00 you will need a 18 mm wrench a 14mm wrench and a 10mm socket and extension most likely 1/4 drive if that's not the case check spark plugs, spark plug wires and check connections on distributor and rotor for corrosion. if plugs and wires need replaced use ngk works best on honda's, and if that's not the case have a mechanic plug a computer scanner in to your vehicle to see if there is any engine codes. You need to read the CEL (check engine light) code to find out what the problem is. You can do this with a scantool or manually with a bit of wire from the 2 pin service connector located under the passenger side dash. Google a video for 'how to read honda CEL codes'. It's easy and will point to the problem. I could speculate about fuel pumps, blown fuses or broken cam-belts but without seeing it i'd just be guessing. The ECU in the car will know the cause which is why it triggered the CEL. Yu can also download a manual from http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto/Manuals/Civic/ and follow the troubleshooter.

HUMMER . History of the 1948 Bburago Jaguar XK 120

Bburago was a model car manufacturer in Burago di Molgora, Italy. The company reproduced European sports car and sedan designs such as the Jaguar XK 120, Triumph and Rolls Royce, typically on a scale of 1-to-18, 1-to-24 and 1-to-43.
Bburago History
Bburago manufactured die-cast model cars beginning in 1974 as Martel, then from 1976 to 2006 as Bburago. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2005 and it assets were acquired by May Cheong, a toy manufacturer based in Hong Kong.
Production
Bburago started out manufacturing cars in the 1-to-24 size. Its early models included the 1948 Jaguar XK 120. Bburago was the first die-cast manufacturer to produce large-size model cars on a 1-to-18 ratio, which became their highest production model.
Jaguar XK 120
The 1948 Jaguar XK 120 was known as the fastest car of its day at 120 mph. It was favored by movie stars like Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart, making it a logical choice for the Italian manufacturer to produce.
Time Frame
Martel manufactured a series of 1-to-24 die-cast model cars in 1975 and 1976 that included the 1948 Jaguar XK 120. The company re-branded and heavily produced them in 1977 as Bburago.

HUMMER . How to Straighten Fiberglass

If you've noticed some warping in your hobby car's fiberglass body, you will have an easier time fixing it than you would if the frame were metal. The material is more flexible than metal, and it's possible to replace pieces on a fiberglass body. However, the added flexibility also makes fiberglass more susceptible to twisting out of shape when left outside or from the passage of time.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
2 2-by-2-inch wooden beams
Level
Measuring tape
Rubber, nylon or plastic spacers
Sandpaper
Fiberglass filler
Catalyst
Car primer
Car paint

Step by Step :
1
Check the body for visible signs of warping. Then put the car's body on a surface that is level and flat.
2
Lay a wooden 2-by-2 board along both ends of the car's body.
3
Place a level on top of each piece of lumber. Check the glass bubbles for signs of warp.
4
Move to the passenger rear side of the car's body and measure the height of the lumber from the floor. Then move to the driver's rear side and measure the height of the other side of that beam from the floor. If the measurements are not the same, raise the corner that is closer to the floor with rubber, nylon or plastic spacers.
5
Repeat step 4 for the beam across the front of the car's body.
6
Measure from back to front on both sides, again using the beams as reference points. Then measure the diagonals (right front to left back, then left front to right back).
7
Clean and sand the portions of the fiberglass that have warped, causing the measurements to be shorter in their area than their opposite sides.
8
Combine a body filler, such as Bondo or DuraGlass, with catalyst and apply a very thin coat to the affected portions. Let each coat dry, then sand and repeat as needed until the measurements even out.
9
Prime and paint the affected portions of fiberglass when you are through adding coats of filler and catalyst.
Tips & Warnings
If coats of catalyst and filler do not work, bolting the body to the frame also may bring the body back into shape. Use this step only if the filler does not work.

Hand cleaner: Chapter 2 has suggestions for the best type to buy. * A work light (or flashlight, at least). * A new set of spark plugs: Buy one for each cylinder in your engine. Never change just a few plugs; it's all or nothing for even engine performance. If you're feeling especially wealthy, buy an extra plug in case you get home and find that one of them is defective, or in case you accidentally ruin one by dropping and cracking it or by cross-threading it when you install it. If you don't use it, keep it in your trunk compartment tool kit for emergencies. Spark plugs don't get stale. And don't be shocked if you're told that you need eight spark plugs for your 4-cylinder engine. Some engines require two spark plugs per cylinder. •* Anti-seize compound and silicone lubricant: The threads of the spark plugs should be lightly coated with anti-seize lubricant before you install them in the engine. Also apply silicone lubricant to the spark plug wire boots to prevent them from sticking to the porcelain part of the spark plug. 478 Car Insurance toyota corolla 2010 sedan4d 163216

* Spark plug starter: Some spark plugs are difficult to reach by hand, whichtan make installation tough. Special spark plug starters are available, or you can use an old spark plug wire boot or a piece of vacuum hose to make your own. * A wire or taper feeler gauge: For gapping spark plugs (see Chapter 2). " A flat feeler gauge: For gapping points (see Chapter 2). * Spark plug wires (if equipped): If you have an older vehicle, check to see whether the spark plug wires (also known as ignition cables) are brittle, cracked, or frayed. If so, it's easy to replace them by following the instructions later in this chapter. Some newer vehicles have no spark plug wires, though. So don't be surprised if you ask for them at the parts store and they say that none are available for your vehicle. *

Distributor cap (if equipped): Distributor caps usually last about 50,000 miles on vehicles with electronic ignition systems. If your cap needs replacing, stick with a name brand like AC Delco (for GM), Mopar or Champion (for Chrysler), Motorcraft (for Ford), and so on. The cheap ones usually don't last very long. . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune OQ 7 V* Distributor rotor (if equipped): Distributor rotors should be replaced © whenever the distributor cap is replaced. Again, stick with a good name brand. u0 Points and condenser (if equipped) and distributor cam lubricant: Vehicles from the 1970s and earlier usually have contact points and a condenser inside the distributor, which need to be replaced periodically. They may be sold separately or as a kit designed for your vehicle's make, model, and year. Check to see whether a little capsule of cam lubricant is in the package with the points. If it isn't, buy a small tube — it's cheap. Without the lubricant, the new points won't last very long.

v* Standard and Phillips screwdrivers: In assorted sizes. You can find pictures of both types in Chapter 2. v* A screwholder: This tool is optional, but excellent for working in a small space like a distributor. Because it holds onto the screw until you release it, a screwholder cuts down on the chances of your dropping the screw into the works. It makes it easier to operate in the relatively tight distributor area because you don't have to cram your fingers in to hold onto the screw. (See Chapter 2 for a picture of a screwholder.) u* A small set of basic socket wrenches that includes a ratchet handle and a spark plug socket: Chapter 2 tells you what these look like and how to buy them. v* Combination wrenches: You can buy only the sizes you need to work on your distributor, but a small set of basic sizes is useful for a variety of home and automotive tasks. You can see how to buy and use combination wrenches in (you guessed it) Chapter 2. »-" A tach/dwell meter: This dual-purpose gadget (refer to Figures 12-42 through 12-44) not only has a dwell meter for measuring your point gap, but it also has a tachometer for measuring the revolutions per minute (rpm) of your engine, a function that's extremely valuable if you need to adjust your carburetor so that it idles properly. If you're going to buy a tach/dwell meter, look for one that has both high and low ranges on the tachometer, which can give you a more precise reading. (Because you won't need this very often, you may want to borrow one.) Don't let the lack of a dwell meter keep you from tuning your car! This chapter tells you how to do the job quite well with feeler gauges. I recommend a dwell meter because it's more accurate and can also help you adjust your carburetor (if your vehicle has one), but you can definitely live without one. u* A timing light: A timing light is a specialized piece of equipment that you use to check ignition timing on vehicles with non-electronic ignitions (refer to Figure 12-45). Because you won't need this tool very often, think about borrowing one from someone in your neighborhood who works on an older vehicle or has an old timing light. 208 Part "l: Kee Pin9 Your Car in Good Condition, System by System If you decide to buy a timing light, keep in mind that, generally, the more you pay, the brighter the light is. Neon lights are the cheapest, but because they operate off the spark plug circuit and use minimal voltage, they may not produce enough light for you to see clearly unless you work in almost total darkness. Xenon lights cost more but provide more light. I suggest that you buy a cheap light, try it out, return it, and buy the next more expensive one until you get what you need. When you look for a timing light, be sure that the cord is long enough and that the clamps are properly insulated so that you can grab them easily without getting shocked. The light should go on and off with a strobe effect when the clamps are properly affixed. When you shine the light at the timing marks on the moving crankshaft pulley of your engine, this strobe effect makes the marks appear to stand still so that you can see whether you have tuned your car properly. I go into the proper way to use this gadget and explain what timing really means later in this chapter.

Buying the right parts for your car To buy the proper spark plugs and parts for a basic tune-up, you must know your vehicle's specifications (or "specs," as they're often called). To obtain the specs for your particular vehicle, you need the following information. All this information should be in your owner's manual, and most of it is also printed on metal tags or decals located inside your hood. You can usually find these in front of the radiator, inside the fenders, on the inside of the hood — anywhere the auto manufacturer thinks you'll find them. I know of one car that has its decal inside the lid of the glove compartment. These ID tags also give a lot of other information about where the vehicle was made, what kind of paint it has, and so on, but don't worry about that information right now. The make of the vehicle (for example, Ford or Honda).
